Rob McKinney is a self taught construction technologist. Rob developed a love for technology with his first Atari game machine. Whether it was learning how to play Donkey Kong on his first Atari Game Machine, or setting up iCloud on his latest iPad tablet, he has always been fascinated with electronic devices. Rob attended Georgia State University and earned his BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies. After college he served as a volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Solomon Islands.

Rob began his career in construction as the Safety Director for J.M. Wilkerson Construction a General Contractor based in Marietta Georgia. Rob has also worked for New South Construction and XL Catlin Insurance. During his construction career he has managed the safety, quality, and mobile device programs for over a decade. Rob is currently working as a Technology Consultant and Podcast Cohost for JBKnowledge. Rob is also volunteers by serving as the Chairman for the AGC Georgia Technology Committee and is a member of the AGC of America IT Forum Steering Committee

Rob is on a mission to educate the construction industry about the uses for new apps and technology on projects.
Over the past few years the ConAppGuru has developed a mobile device program for the company based around apps used on tablets and smartphones. The purpose of this program is to research and implement new apps and devices to improve workflows. The end goal of the program is to save Field Staff time by streamlining processes and creating a more collaborative environment.

The idea behind this website is to share with others what I have learned about how to use new technology to improve the construction industry. This is the construction industry blog site to follow if you want to learn more about new apps and hardware, but do not have the time to research all of the options out there. Each week Rob will post reviews about new apps, hardware, and strategies on how to implement mobile technology into your company.
