The ConTech Tuesday series is dedicated to reviewing new apps and software for the construction industry that can improve work flows and transform companies! This weeks ConTech Tuesday Vlog from The ConTechCrew focused on the use case for 360 photos on on construction project sites. The ConAppGuru, reviewed on the new 360 photos feature for the PlanGrid app.

App Workflows 

1 – Capture: take a 360 photo on a RICHO Theta S camera. 

2 – Sync: move the 360 photo from camera to mobile device. 

3 – Share: place the 360 photo on a 2D plan and publish to the master set. 

Feature #1: Post and Share (Web) 

A – Take a 360 photo on a camera such as a RICOH Theta S.

B – Sync camera files to local computer. 

C – Log onto PlanGrid website, open the sheet for work area, use Photo icon and place a pin for location, drag and drop 360 from desk top to web platform. Post to Master to share with team. 

Feature #2: Capture (App) 

A – Take a 360 photo on a camera (like a RICOH Theta S)

B – Sync camera files to tablet or smartphone. 

C – Open PlanGrid app, open the sheet for work area, use Photo icon and place a pin for location, select 360 photo from photo roll to add onto 2D plan.

Feature #3: View 

Users can view 360 photos in two modes: 

A: Standard: use tablet or Smartphone to view 360 in a gyro type mode 

B: Google Cardboard: use a Google Card board for VR viewing mode
